Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that his country will build 3 nuclear power plants with a total of 6 reactors as part of its nuclear energy program.
According to the Polish News Agency (PAP), Morawiecki stated that nuclear is important for energy security. Morawiecki stated that nuclear power plants will enable the country to be independent from the market and stock market and said, “We will build 3 nuclear power plants with a total of 6 reactors.”
‘We Need Stable Energy’
Noting that the investment in nuclear energy does not mean that Poland will not develop renewable energy sources, Morawiecki said, “However, we need stable energy provided by coal today.” It was announced on October 28 that Poland’s first nuclear power plant will be built by the US-based nuclear power company Westinghouse Electric Company. The construction of the nuclear power plant will begin in 2026, and the first reactor is expected to be operational in 2033.
