Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that they are working on a new electric car platform that will be half the price of the Model 3/Y platform. Elon Musk has been talking about making a cheaper Tesla model for years, but inflation, high demand for electric cars and supply problems are causing prices to rise instead.
Although it was announced that Tesla engineers would work on a $25,000 vehicle before, shifting the focus to the robot called Optimus and increasing the production of Model Y prevented this process.
Works Started For Cheap Tesla
In his latest statement, Musk stated that this is still in his plans and announced that Tesla engineers will focus on working on a cheaper platform. Elon Musk said, “We’re done with engineering for Cyberrucks and Semi. So what we’re working on is the next generation vehicle, which will likely be about half the cost of platform 3 and Y. To be clear, it will be smaller and more affordable.”
